Chris and I were so excited to welcome Camryn into our lives! Although I was scheduled to be induced at 7:00 a.m. on the 24th, Camryn had other plans. After a wonderful dinner with family and friends, I finally made myself go to bed at 12:30 (my mind was kind of racing...can't imagine why! :). Camryn decided at 1:30 a.m. that she would begin to make her debut into the world. In the beginning my contractions were inconsistent and relatively painless, however three hours later they turned into full-blown, five minutes apart, sharp, shooting pains up my back and in my lower abdomen. I woke Chris up and called the doctor, only to find out the doctor on call said to wait at least 1-2 hours before coming to the hospital (not exactly the news I wanted to hear). Chris and I decided to finish up a few things (you know...fold the laundry in the dryer, take a shower, etc.) around the house and then made our way to my mom's, which was closer to the hospital. We finally arrived at the hospital a little before 7:00 a.m., where I was promptly given Phenergan and my epidural. All I can say is thank goodness for pain medicine (not sure how anyone gives birth without it)! The Phenergan helped me sleep from 4 cm to 9 1/2 cm...what a wonderful time to wake up! The next thing I know I was 10 cm and pushing! Unfortunately, Cammie was face up and required 2 hours of pushing, but it was well worth it! There are not words to describe the feeling of meeting someone you have waited SO long for! I was overwhelmed when they laid her on my belly and I saw her for the first time....I just loved her so much already!!! It was definitely something I will never forget. I have to say I was also so proud of my husband who was stronger than I ever expected that day...without him (and my amazing mom) I am not sure I would have such a great story to tell! :)
