The Deranged Easter Bunny

If you know me at all you know my favorite (well one of them...I have too many to just pick one! :) Christmas movie is in fact A Christmas Story (let the groaning begin...I know, I know how in the world can I still enjoy that movie??? :).  I can quote every line from the movie, have the entire Christmas Story village and almost every ornament that has been created. I love, love, LOVE falling asleep on Christmas Eve to the movie playing in the background and refuse to let Chris set the sleep timer on the t.v. that night so it will still be playing when I wake up on Christmas morning. :) When I stumbled across these pj's in Cammie's drawer I immediately thought about the scene in the movie where Ralphie opens the present from Aunt Clara and it is the hideous pink bunny suit.  Check out my bunny! :)  She was about as thrilled as Ralphie in this picture! :)

Good morning!

I just wanted to jot this down, before I forgot...

I LOVE waking up to Cammie in the morning!!!  For the past week and a half Chris and I have not had to to set an alarm because of the snow days and winter break (It has been pretty spectacular!).  Cammie has been VERY good to us and has been sleeping until 8:00 or 8:15 each day (she is so wonderful :). When she does finally wake up she doesn't cry or scream...she mostly laughs.  I will wake up to the sound of her giggles and it is absolutely THE BEST sound to hear.  It just fills my heart when I wake up to my happy baby each morning!  I also LOVE walking into her room, peeking over her crib and watching her when she sees my face for the first time.  She smiles her biggest smile as if to say, "Good morning mom, I am so happy to see you!"  It's the little things these days....:)

Cereal

Cammie is really beginning to be a big girl!  (Happy and sad about that all at the same time. My baby is growing up! :)  During Thanksgiving Break Cammie stopped sleeping through the night and was acting hungry all the time.  It was all we could do to get her to wait 3 hours between each bottle, so I called her doctor the next Monday morning and they advised me to start giving Cammie cereal in her bottle right before bed each night.  Cammie loved it and we soon had to increase her cereal bottles from just at night to morning, middle of the day and night.  For the past couple weeks she has watched us eat and drink EVERYTHING!  You almost feel bad eating in front of her, because she wants what you have SOO bad. She even makes this funny noise when she really wants what you are eating.  I finally decided to try feeding her some cereal from a spoon and she LOVES it!  Look at this messy, but very happy girl! :)

Yummy!

Not sure about this mom....doesn't go down like the milk in my bottle

More please! :)

Christmas Round 1, 2, 3 4 and 5

Originally, I wanted to post each Christmas celebration separately, however since it has taken so long to actually write about Christmas and upload pictures, I decided to combine all 5 celebrations into 1 post.  :)

1. December 18: This past weekend we celebrated Christmas with both sides of Chris' family.  Saturday we celebrated with our Indianapolis family, while Sunday was reserved for North Vernon. Saturday Aunt Vickie, Uncle Vince, Aunt Hollie, Aunt Diane and our cousins Ben, Nathalie, Savannah and Roger all ventured down from Indianapolis to celebrate Christmas with us.  We don't get the opportunity to see them very often, so it was so nice to celebrate with them and introduce Camryn to a few of them for the first time.

Camryn and her second cousin Nathalie

2.  Sunday we went to North Vernon where all of the Kanes were able to gather together at Chris' grandparent's house and celebrate.  We were able to open presents, eat our traditional pizza for dinner and catch up with one another.  Although the weekend was packed full of fun family festivities, we enjoyed every second of it!

3.  Christmas Eve was pretty laid back and enjoyable this year. In the past, we have packed in last minute shopping, Christmas Eve church service and our family get-together all in what seemed to be a very short day.  This year Cammie and I wrapped some last minute presents and caught up on the DVR all day.  It was pretty fabulous! :)  Later in the evening we went to my Aunt Tammy's to celebrate with my dad's side of the family.  Everyone enjoyed the traditional sausage balls (among other delicious goodies :), playing cards, opening presents and watching the first episode of A Christmas Story (still LOVE that movie!) from the marathon.  Cammie was a tad spoiled by her Great Granny, Aunt Tammy and Aunt Cindy...look at all her goodies! :)

Can we get to the presents already...it's past my bedtime :)

Finally...a good picture of the 3 of us :)

Cammie and her goodies...she must have been awfully good this year!

4.  Christmas Day is truly one of my favorite days of the year.  Chris continues to tell me we are are going to have to slow down and begin some of our own traditions, now that our precious Cammie is here, but I LOVE how jam-packed our day is of family and fun!  We began our day opening presents at home.  Santa brought Cammie a few fun toys, but her Aunt Chrissie, Nana and Pop, Grandma and Grandpa and other relatives bought so many things for her, he didn't have much left to get! :)

After presents at home, the three of us (plus the puppies...thank you Nana and Pop...they REALLY appreciated not having to stay home all alone on Christmas day!) ventured to my mom and dad's for breakfast.  One thing I do miss about being at home is my dad's breakfast.  He makes the BEST biscuits and gravy and definitely did not disappoint today! Even the dogs were able to enjoy some scrambled eggs for their Christmas breakfast. :)  After we ate, we headed downstairs to open presents.  Everyone must have been very good this year, because we all received some nice things!  Dad was so excited to get his portable t.v., mom was very surprised to find her Ipad, while my brother Nick was ecstatic to get his new T.V. for his room.  Cammie, Chris and I got portable DVD players for our Myrtle Beach trip in July and Cammie got tons of new toys to play with at our house and Nana's.  Next, we went to Chris' mom and dad's house to celebrate with them.  Although Cammie can sure be difficult, her grandma and grandpa must really love her....they got her a zoo membership and a bouncer to play with when Cammie visits there during the week. We enjoyed watching A Christmas Story, eating some yummy sandwiches, Chick-Fil-A chicken strips and playing new games with the rest of the family.  At the end of the day I took Cammie back to my mom and dad's so mom could spend some time with us before she had to go to work, while Chris stayed and enjoyed more quality time with his family.  I always hate going home on Christmas night, because it is like admitting the holiday season is over....wish I could make Christmas day last for about a week straight!!!

Merry Christmas Camryn! Can you tell she just woke up :)

Cammie and Grandpa

5.  December 30, 2010:  Finally we were able to enjoy Christmas with my grandpa and Cammie's great grandpa.  My papaw is one of the sharpest, spunkiest men I know....especially for a man that is 92.  I just love my papaw and definitely have not spent enough quality time with him since Cammie was born.  Due to his condition (he is a World War II veteran who was shot in the leg by a German machine gun and can no longer walk), he lives is an assisted living facility.  Camryn's doctor advised us not to take Camryn to the facility until she is 6 months old, due to lack of vaccinations and germs; therefore we just don't get to see him near as often as I would like. :(  Mom and dad were both off this past week, so we arranged to have lunch and celebrate Christmas on Thursday. When we walked in with Cammie my papaw's eyes just lit up!  He was so excited to see her and could not believe how much she had grown.  You should have seen that proud great grandpa...he had her picture on the table and talked about her with anyone who walked by. :)  She returned the love to him by flashing her big smile every time he talked to her. He just melts my heart with her....love him so much!!!  Here are the two of the together! :)
She thinks he is too funny...such a cute picture!

Such a big kid! He LOVES opening presents! (Can you see Cammie's picture he has on the table...he also loves showing her off :)

We are so truly blessed on both sides of our families and the holidays are such wonderful reminders of that!  Whew....that was a super long post, but I think I captured as much as I could!

Cookie Decorating

Brittney and Kaidyn invited us to their house for their second annual cookie decorating party. Cammie and I were running a bit late (as usual), but we got there just in time to watch the bigger kids decorate their cookies. They loved icing them, adding some sprinkles and maybe even an M & M or two. I liked LOVED watching Kade and Addy just eat the M & M's...they were so content with those yummy candies! (It's the little things in a kid's life! :)  Although Brittney had plenty of cookies to decorate, my nosy Cammie would much rather watch what's going on, than actually partake in the fun. :)  It's funny how all these fun friend get-togethers are so meaningful when you have your own baby to begin making traditions with.  Thanks for inviting us Britt...we had such a blast Cammie had to take a nap during lunch!

Outlet Mall Extravaganza!!!

Today mom, Chrissie, Cammie and I headed to Edinburgh armed with some great coupons to do one of the things we do best... S.H.O.P! :) I absolutely love our outlet days!!  I love having an entire day devoted to shopping with some of THE BEST people I know!  We always hit the Gap outlet first, which usually sets the tone for the rest of the outlet mall.:) It did not disappoint! I was finally able to find a pair of skinny jeans that I LOVE!! (Sidenote: Now I wish I had at least 3 more pair of boots I could wear with them :)  After the Gap, we went to our usual spots NIKE (for the boys...they do love a great golf polo :), Carters (which doesn't always have the best deals, but we were able to find Cammie's Christmas dress for next year for $6 and a great pair of sunglasses for when we all travel to the beach in late June), Children's Place (love their pj's for my long and lean baby :), the pet store (I still love my fur babies...and they had 80% off of EVERYTHING there...it was great!) and finally Banana Republic (which was probably the best store we went to...I found pants for me and shirts for Chris for work for a steal...70 and 80% off!).  It was a great shopping day!!!
This day was also extra special because we also met Chrissie G. and Ezra for a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Edinburgh.  I just love seeing that girl...she is such free spirit and can always make me laugh!  I just know Ezra and Cammie are going to be great short long distance friends! Check out these pictures of the two of them! :)  What a FANTASTIC day!!

4 of the bestest friends!  We LOVE and miss them so much!!!

pj party time

This morning Hillary, Brady and Cooper invited us to their house to start our break off right....we partied in our pjs!  We were able to enjoy some yummy breakfast together, made some fun ornaments (which Cammie slept through) and spent some much needed time with our friends before the Christmas craziness began.  We are hoping to begin many more of our Christmas break vacations just like this one!
