Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend was packed full of fun for the Kane family!  It was so nice to finally spend some time together, as Chris has been SO (SO in capital letters is an understatement) busy the last few weeks!  Since baseball season started Camryn and I have felt like we have not seen him at all.  Between practice, traveling to Texas (for work), games and 5th grade camp he has hardly been home at all!  It was so nice to have a little time to do things as a family.  We are definitely ready for Chris and I both to be off for the summer!

Friday:
Nick, Chrissie, Chris, Camryn and I have started a new tradition...Pizza Fridays.  For the past few months the five of us have tried to get together every Friday, relax, hang out and eat some pizza.  I think Pizza Friday started towards the end of winter when Chrissie and I struggled to find time to spend time together during the week.  We started meeting at the grocery on Friday nights (weird I know, but she used to go to help me with C) and then would make arrangements to eat dinner together.  We almost always picked up pizza for dinner.  Slowly this evolved into Pizza Friday!  This past Friday was no different, other than we ate a little bit later because Nick and Chrissie had to go pick up their new car (yay for them!!!).

Saturday:
On Saturday the weather was gorgeous!!! Chrissie, Camryn and I started our day off with a quick run through the neighborhood and then Camryn and I had lunch while waiting on Chris to get home from practice.  Chris and I planned on heading over to the zoo with Camryn around 1:00, but she had other ideas.  Camryn fell asleep a little before 1:00 and did not wake up until around 3:00.  Needless to say we got started at the zoo a little later than we anticipated. The zoo was pretty crowded, but C enjoyed people watching (her favorite activity) and LOVED looking at the monkeys, birds and fish.  It was so neat to watch her follow the fish, birds as they flew and monkeys as they swung from rope to rope.

Sunday:
Chrissie and I decided to plan an impromptu outlet trip a week or so ago to give ourselves something to look forward to and get us through the last few days/weeks of school. (It's the little things :)  We headed up around 11:00 and ended up finding some pretty good deals.  Camryn was SO good during our trip! I was a little worried, because she did not sleep on the way there like I anticipated she would, but she was a trooper!  Maybe she really will turn out to be mommy's little shopper ! :)  (which may not be such a good thing later on :) After our outlet trip Nick and Chrissie invited us, along with Brad Meghan and Maddie over for a small cookout.  I LOVE getting those little girls together!  They are so funny together!  So glad to have great friends to spend a long weekend with! :)

LOVE this picture...the girls kept trying to take one another's pacifiers...they are a mess :)

Great friends!

Monday:
Aunt Chrissie and Uncle Nick met C and I at our house Monday morning so Aunt Chrissie and I could go for a quick run. (It's so wonderful to see the impact C has made on Chrissie's Nick's heart!  She is quite the charmer and definitely seems to turn it on when Nick is around. :)  Chrissie and I ran as quickly as we could, because we had to be in Austin by 11:00 to watch Chris' baseball team play in their sectional game.  Although he was lucky enough to play in the first game it was still H*O*T!!!  C was a little cranky at first, but her mood seemed to improve tremendously once her tent was up and she could play in the shade. (Thanks grandma and grandpa!)  Today mom had the hard realization of sitting in the chair and enjoying the sunshine will not be on her agenda this summer.  Cammie is into EVERYTHING!!! Standing in chairs, pouring drinks out all over herself, the list could go on and on! :)  Unfortunately, Chris' team lost 5-4 to Providence but they played one heck of a game!!  I don't think those boys played as hard as they did today all season! Stinks that yucky Providence moved on! :( Oh well...maybe next year!  The game wore little Cammie bear out!  She just fell over in Aunt C's arms, while we were waiting to tell Chris goodbye (definitely goes down as one of her cutest memories).  Once Cammie and I got home we took a nap together and then headed back up to Austin to watch the final sectional game with Chris.  Although baseball = craziness in the Kane household I am a little sad it is over.  Chris loves it more than anything and it is really neat watching the passion he puts into coaching those boys.  Cammie and I love going to the games when the weather is nice and the sun is shining!  I guess the three of us will have to get our baseball fix from the Reds for the rest of the summer....hopefully they will get their act together and regain their NL Central division title this year!

Camryn hanging out at the game in her Pop-A-Tot

She loves to sit, watch and take everything in! :)

Overall Memorial Day weekend was filled with friends, family and FUN!!! It was exactly what we all needed and made us very anxious for summer!!!

Camryn is 9 months old!

It just doesn't seem possible that our princess is 9 months old already!  Right now Camryn...

  • wears a size 3 diaper
  • wears sizes 6-12, 9 or 12 months in clothes
  • has graduated to a convertible car seat (she was too long for her infant seat...her little feet hung over the edge :)

  • can move from her belly to sitting upright
  • LOVES to stand and hold on to things (like the couch)..I feel like we do this all day :)

Prom....for Uncle Nick

Camryn's Uncle Nick went to his jumior prom on Saturday and he looked snazzy all dressed up!

Camryn and Nick...It melts my heart to see how much he loves her!

Nick, Amie and Camryn...he looks so handsome (and so grown up)!

(As most people know I am very close to my younger brother Nick.  We are nine years apart, but I would consider us pretty close.  It's hard to believe he is a junior (senior in just 4 days!) in high school.  I can remember when he was Camryn's size.  When Camryn was first born Nick was pretty apprehensive of her (she was just too little :), but when I went back to work and my mom started keeping Camryn on her days off work, Nick and Camryn bonded immediately.  Every day he comes home before golf practice and looks for his "buddy."  He takes credit for being the one that taught her how to wave hi and/or bye.  I am just still amazed at how close he is to her and how much he loves her!)

Ready to move!

Check me out....I am ready to move!!! We know we will only be safe for a short time longer! :)
Look at me!

On the move....at least from one side of the chair to the other :)

Watch out Brohdi....if only he knew what was coming his way soon :)
*Sidenote: It's hard to see from this picture, but my Aunt Maggie traveled to Washington D.C. last week and brought me this really cool shirt!  I thought I was big stuff in such a big girl shirt! Thank you Aunt Maggie for thinking of me....you are the best! I love you! :)

Thank You (and happy grandMother's day late)!

On Tuesday we took Tammy, Granny, mom and dad out for dinner to celebrate mother's day with my grandma a little late and to say thank you to Tammy.  Tammy was so, sO, SO wonderful in helping us buy our new car.  She works with many (probably all of the car dealerships in this area) and knows just who to send us to when we are looking for a specifc car.  To be honest, we have never really had to go haggle and do all the yuckiness that normally goes along with buying a car.  She made buying the Escape super easy and we are so thankful for that!  My dad was also fantastic as he spent hours helping us narrow down the colors, options, rebates, etc. so we could get exactly what we wanted.  Thank you so much for helping...you guys are THE BEST!

Happy Mother's Day!

My first Mother's Day was absolutely wonderful and reminded me how blessed I truly am!  Chris started my day off by making my favorite breakfast in the whole world...cinnamon pancakes!  (Camryn thought they were pretty wonderful as well....she helped me eat a few bites and loved every second of it! :)  Next the three of us met Nick and Chrissie at church and then split up to run a few last minute errands.  Cammie and I headed to Target to finish shopping for Isaac's birthday present and my mom's mother's day present, while Chris had some very last minute shopping he had to do for both his mom and I.  (We both hated being so last minute and had planned to make a few quick stops before our Derby party yesterday, but ended up spending an extra hour or two at the car dealership...since we bought a new car YAY!)  After spending a little lunch time with Nana, Camryn and I headed back home to pick up Chris and celebrate Isaac's 2nd birthday.  We ended our evening by meeting Chris' family at El Nopal for a quick, but yummy dinner.  Camryn made sure it was extra quick, because she was CRANKY!  I guess our busy day was just too much for her and her very short cat naps in between trips in the car were not enough.  What an amazing day!!!
My baby....so lucky that He chose me to be her mom....she has made our world such a brighter place!

Sharing

Just had to jot this memory down....

Every morning Chris gets up and ready earlier than I do, allowing me to sleep a little later or enjoy a few extra minutes of snuggle time with my bug (if she has already woken up).  After he gets ready Chris feeds Camryn her breakfast and then eats his.  Anyone who knows Chris is aware that he is a VERY routine-oriented person...every morning he eats a banana with peanut butter.  Every.single.morning. :)  Over the last few weeks Chris and Camryn have been "sharing" his breakfast.  He takes a bite of banana, gives her a bite (minus the peanut butter), he takes a bite, then gives her a bite, repeat. :)  She gets so excited when it is her turn to eat.  It is so super sweet!!!

First Red's Game

On Sunday, Camryn attended her first Red's game thanks to Chris' Aunt Carmel (she gives us AMAZING seats right behind home plate, which are perfect for taking Camryn).  I wasn't sure how well Camryn would do during a nine inning baseball game where we would have to sit the whole time, but she shocked us both and was wonderful!!  We actually arrived a little late (which of course was my fault, according to Chris :), took care of everyone's bathroom business, grabbed a drink and then headed to our seats.  Camryn sat with Chris and I from the 2nd inning to the 9th!  She loved people watching, clapping with the crowd, enjoyed some snacks and turned on her charm to anyone who was sitting nearby.  Although the Reds lost, we had a great time on our first family baseball outing.  It was such a relief knowing she could tolerate going to a game...guess it is in her blood!

Before the game
Camryn has her Aunt C's love for Joey Votto!!!
(Mom really wishes they had a Brandon Phillips shirt small enough to fit though! :(

Watching the Reds! :)

I LOVE it here!!!!
