House Update...

Can I just say that I never, never, NEVER plan to move again.  Selling and buying a house is definitely one of the most time consuming and frustrating adventures I have ever been through.  Every time I think we move a few steps forward it seems like we are moving 10 back.  As of right now we still have the original offer we accepted in November on our house.  That offer has a first right of refusal, meaning that other people can still look at the house, make an offer, but at the end of the day the original buyer has first dibs on the house.  The buyer who made the offer on the house is going through a divorce, therefore we are having to await the finalization of that and all the paperwork before we can close on our house.  Our realtor wanted to ensure we sold our house, which kind of explains why the first right is so important for our sale.  To make a long story short we now have 2 offers on our house, one accepted, one going back and forth trying to come to a final agreement.  In the end the original owner trumps the new offer as long as she can commit 100% to her agreement within a 48 time period...clear as mud???? It took about 3 different explanations in 3 different situations for me to feel like I finally "get it."  I am just SO ready for this period in our life to be over.  I hate strangers being in my house, I hate living unnaturally (hello...we have 2 big dogs and a toddler.... vacuuming, dusting, wiping fingerprints EVERY night is so not our style :), I hate the constant phone conversations, accepting and returning calls....I'm just over all of it! It is so exhausting trying to stay on top of that every day and keep up with the hustle and bustle of every day life, Chris' basketball season and school for each of us!  I know we are on the down hill side of the worst part of it, but the spring season just can't get here soon enough!  Cross your fingers that the offer war will at least give us a firm, closing date....we don't even know that right now! I feel like I am losing my mind! :)

Our Little Monkey

We are coming to the conclusion that we have quite the climber on our hands....

Look how proud of herself she is.....The future is looking scary!

She climbed up on the table not once, twice, but three times while we were in another room.  Not looking forward to the next few weeks or months when she gets even more adventurous :/ (Notice how she knows to turn the chair just so to help her get from the ground to the table...stinker!)

Oops!!!

Chrissie and Nick have been SO wonderful during the process of selling, finding and buying our house.  I just can't thank them enough for always allowing us to bring ourselves and the puppies to their house while ours is being shown, keeping Camryn while we search for a new one, etc.  Saturday they were showing our house again (long story....see later post :) and they graciously invited us to spend the day with them.  We ran tons of errands, went to church, picked up a pizza for dinner....just had a fun day together.  After cleaning up our pizza, I walked around the corner to find Camryn.....

with an entire bag of Goldfish dumped on the couch. :(  Oops!!! Good thing we had 3 puppies to help us clean up the mess! :)

Mommy Lesson

The past few weeks we have gotten into a terrible habit and let C eat in her car seat.  To say my car needs a bath in the worst way is a complete understatement! I have milk all over my back passenger window (where she dropped or threw her cup) and there are more goldfish in that seat than can be counted.  :) Yesterday, however I may have learned my lesson....we had been running around all day long with Aunt C and Uncle Nick.  (They were showing our house again and we had to be out....we had errands to run so we figured we would spend the day with our favorite people running all over the area. :)  After church we decided to grab some pizza and head back to Nick and Chrissie's house.  When Nick called the pizza in they said it was going to be an hour before it was ready, so we headed across the street to Meijer and grab a few groceries (and to prevent something else to do on our Sunday. :)  By this time C was getting hungry and spotted the bag of chocolate doughnuts that Aunt Chrissie put in in the cart (we had powdered sugar, but of course she chose the ones Aunt C picked :).  C of course sampled the doughnuts and I really thought nothing of it, other than she was eating doughnuts as her dinner appetizer. :)  When I looked at her pink pea coat this morning I was shocked to find smashed chocolate all over one side. :( Of course, it is dry clean only so I tried to make the best of it and get the chocolate off with a wet towel.  Most of it came off, but this mommy may have finally learned a lesson....no car seat eating unless we are on a long trip....too much trouble to keep the car, car seat, coat, etc. clean! :)

Home Sweet Home

The Kanes have finally made a decision and found a home!!! We are super excited that we have (hopefully) found our forever house and can't wait to move in.....BUT (as I said in my last house posting, there's always a but) we probably won't get to move in until the end of May or beginning of June.  My wonderful friend Danielle asked her next door neighbors (who have started the process of building a new house) if they were interested in showing their house before Christmas.  Originally, I think they said no, but something changed their mind.  Chris and I went to the house a few days before Christmas and fell in love with it!  It was the first house we have walked into and could see ourselves living in.  The house is absolutely gorgeous and the basement and backyard are more than we could have ever dreamed of.  I tell everyone that the basement on this house is 100 times better than any of the new construction homes we were originally looking to build. This house was also a considerable amount less than the one we were looking to build so we were beyond excited to move forward!  To make a long story short, Danielle's neighbors were excited to sell the house, but decided to wait until the end of the school year to make the transition on their daughter less traumatic.  I am sure they were also some what in the same boat as we were when someone made an offer on our house....not really expecting it and in shock that things moved so quickly.  As a result my parents are graciously allowing us to move in with them for the two months or so that we have nowhere to live (can I add they are allowing us to move in WITH the dogs! :).  Things will be tight at mom and dad's, but I can't thank them enough for helping us during this transitional time.  When we signed the agreement on our house March 15 seemed like so far away....now we are being forced to think about packing our entire house and putting it in storage. :(  As I have told many people moving from one house to the other would have just been too easy.  He has to sometimes throw us a few curve balls and test the waters. :)  Although we will be invading mom and dad's space it will be so nice to have adults to communicate with during baseball season (since I completely lose my husband :) and Baby E will arrive during the second month...keeping C and I very entertained as we spend pretty much every day after school with Aunt Chrissie and E! :)  Aunt Chrissie has also offered to make her home our second home and share temporary custody of our puppies....giving Nana and Pop a break from them a few afternoons a week.  We are so very excited to know where we are going, even it means cramping everyone's style for a few short months. :)

The Yuckies

The Kane house has had a definite case of the yuckies this past week!  Sunday Chris and I had to take C to the urgent care to have her ears looked at.  She had been super clingy, running a fever, congested and crying anytime she drank from her cup.  When we got to the urgent care center her temperature was 101.3 and she did in fact have an ear infection.  One ear was worse than the other so they gave us some drops and amoxicillin and sent us on our way. :)  We've been trying to stay around home a little more and keep C inside as much as possible.  Almost a week later she is still very congested and her nose is pouring....hoping it's nothing more than just that.
In addition to C, Chris was very sick this week as well.  Tuesday he went to work a little congested and came home a lot worse.  :(  We still are not quite sure what was going on with him, but he spent a day and a half in bed with a fever and horrible headache.  Chris is about as stubborn as they come, so he refused to take his temperature or visit the doctor to find out exactly what was going on.  Chrissie's mother-in-law was pretty sick with a fever not too long ago and was told that a yucky virus is going around.  It was definitely a crazy week in our house....hoping everyone is on their way back to feeling 100%!b
